Pair of glazed Taiwanese jars, circa 1940, converted into lamps. The stamped seal in Chinese characters reads “台灣省酒公賣局” (Taiwan Provincial Wine and Tobacco Monopoly). These are storage and fermentation jars for rice wine, such as Shaoxing wine, which fit perfectly into a wabi-sabi decor.The number 2 generally indicates the capacity (2 decaliters, or 20 liters) or a specific mold/workshop number within the Taiwanese factory of that era.
