1800s French Empire-style Secretary Desk With Marble And Bronze Accents
French secrétaire from the first half of the 1800s in the Empire style, made of mahogany and mahogany veneer. The piece features a slender structure typical of French Empire-style furniture, with a projecting top and a front marked by a wide central drop-leaf, embellished by the mahogany’s splendid grain. The drop-down panel, secured by a lock with a gilded bronze keyhole, conceals the writing desk compartment inside.
The lower section features three spacious drawers, which also showcase the magnificent grain of the mahogany and are equipped with locks and keyholes. The upper section features an additional drawer, while the front is adorned with elegant gilded bronze appliqués, including palmette motifs, plant elements, and ornamental decorations typical of the Empire style.
