Oil Jug, Soup Tureen, Silver, Paris 1787
Silver oil jar resting on a circular footrest molded with fluting; the body is plain, the handles are leaf-shaped, and the domed lid is topped with a finial in the shape of a burst pomegranate.
Paris, 1787; the silversmith’s hallmark is illegible.
Weight: 2,347 g – height: 26.5 cm – diameter: 26.8 cm – width across handles: 32.8 cm.
Condition: good, signs of use; it has no lining, but judging by the way the lid fits, I believe it never had one. All parts are hallmarked: body, lid, and base.
