Elegant and sturdy, this rare piece of patinated terracotta pottery, dating from around the mid-20th century, is characterized by intricate relief work depicting interlocking scales covering its entire body. This high-quality piece from the Sicilian pottery tradition—likely from Caltagirone—is inspired by the motif of the famous pine cone, a symbol of prosperity and good luck in this region. It is a handcrafted, traditional piece, as evidenced by the horizontal wheel marks left by the potter’s wheel, visible on the interior. It features a superb original patina with warm hues, ranging from red (also on the interior) to yellow and cream, which lends a magnificent depth to the motifs.

The piece is dense and heavy, weighing over 3 kg, due to wall thicknesses ranging from 12 to 15 millimeters, which confirms its high-quality craftsmanship.

Its base is unpierced and features an original black protective coating.
