Impressive carved gilded wood console table – Marble top – Louis XV / Rocaille style

A very elegant carved and gilded wood console table in the Louis XV style, featuring rich Rocaille decoration.

The curvilinear, openwork band is lavishly carved with volutes, foliage, shells, and rocaille motifs.

It rests on four strongly curved legs, also carved and gilded, topped with scrolls.

The legs are joined by a swirling crossbar, adorned in the center with a large foliage motif, lending lightness and balance to the piece as a whole.

The console is topped with a beautiful veined white marble top, molded and scalloped to follow the curves of the band.

The gilding, slightly weathered in places, elegantly highlights the depth and richness of the carving.

A spectacular and highly decorative console table, ideal for an entryway, a living room, or beneath a large mirror.
