Pierre Langlade (1907–1972) studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nantes before taking classes with Paul Albert Laurens (1870–1934) at the Académie Julian in Paris.
He participated in the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon d’Automne.
He was invited to the 1937 World’s Fair in Paris, where his finest paintings were exhibited.
Our painting is a perfect example of what Langlade’s talent allowed him to achieve: reminiscent of Expressionism with its thick impasto and vivid palette, it lends his cut flowers a lasting vitality.
