Antique "lyre-style" Clock; Restored With Gilded Bronze And Painted Porcelain Panels, Ver
A gilded bronze clock, chiseled in the shape of an ancient-style lyre. The top is crowned with a bust of Apollo (or an allegory of Poetry) flanked by two stylized dolphin heads holding a draped garland of flowers. The side panels are decorated with palmettes and foliage scrolls.
Painted Porcelain: The quadrangular base features hand-painted polychrome porcelain panels depicting gallant or pastoral scenes—a couple in a rural landscape on the front, and a second couple embracing on the back.
Dial & Movement: A circular white-enameled dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, featuring a guilloché-engraved gilt-bronze center. The striking mechanism is housed within the lyre, protected at the back by an openwork rosette-shaped dust cover (in need of restoration).
Base: Rectangular plinth accented by a frieze of heart-shaped lines and resting on four chiseled lion’s paw feet.
