Ancient Silver Relic Of Saint Gregory I (saint Gregory The Great), Pope
A rare silver reliquary with a beveled crystal front, containing a relic of St. Gregory the Great. The relic is carefully set in the center of an exquisite decoration. It rests on a fabric base, is mounted on a small rhombus of paper or parchment, and is framed by a finely crafted silver border.
Below, a parchment label bears the inscription "S. Gregorii Mag. PP. D.”, confirming the identity of the saint whose relic is preserved.
