A charming little chest of drawers made of walnut veneer, rosewood, palisander, and native woods—both natural and stained—inlaid with a diamond-patterned design, friezes featuring four-leaf clover motifs, dotted patterns, etc., opening with two front drawers; the square-section uprights terminate in four tapered sheath feet, the whole with feigned fluting (accidents and restorations).
Italy, last quarter of the 18th century.

With its straight lines and geometric motifs inspired by Greco-Roman antiquity, our chest of drawers is reminiscent of the works from the workshop of Giuseppe Maggiolini (1738–1814), who was Milan’s leading cabinetmaker in the late 18th century.
