Murano Glass Pyramid
Artist: Romano Donà
An important pyramid-shaped sculpture made of solid Murano glass by the artist *Romano Donà*, created in the 1970s.
The sculpture features a pure geometric form, an icon of Italian Space Age design. The amber/smoked-colored glass body is supported by four spherical feet made of clear glass, cast as a single piece.
Inside, there are two levels of decoration:
The base features numerous teardrop-shaped air bubble inclusions that create a fluid and dynamic effect.
The upper section features a refined decoration of black and white glass rods wound in a spiral, lending movement and depth to the piece.
The surface is cold-polished with perfectly sharp edges.
Piece signed “Donà,” hand-engraved on one side and bearing the original label.
Romano Donà (1934–2013) was one of the most important Murano glassmakers. Artistic director for Barovier&Toso and Venini, in the 1970s he developed his own personal exploration of autonomous sculptural forms, which became icons of Italian design.
