Volume featuring modern reproductions of the engravings it contains (5 beautiful antique woodcuts measuring 140/110 mm). A sailor for many years, then a captain, and finally an admiral in the navy of King Francis I of France, he was the first captain of the Ponant and distinguished himself notably during the naval battle of Muros in 1543. After his service, he retired to his Norman estates in Saint-Pierre-Église. Jean de Clarmorgan was also known for his role as a master hunter, which led him to write his famous *Treatise on Wolf Hunting*, also known as *Wolf Hunting: Essential for the Country Home*, published in 1566 or 1574, depending on the source. A rare and valuable complete edition featuring 5 woodcuts.
