Heraldic Lion Stemmed Cup, Kg Lunéville, Gallé Era, 1900
Artist: Keller Et Guerin à Lunéville
A beautiful 1900 footed bowl decorated with a heraldic lion accented with foliage (linden?) by Keller and Guerin in Lunéville.
This bowl, featuring the famous heraldic lion design—often used by Émile Gallé in his ceramics—is of exceptional quality. It displays remarkable finesse, with all the lion’s claws fully extended. Note the plant motifs in high relief throughout the bowl (I believe they are linden leaves). The gold stands out superbly against this very intense midnight blue background. Polylobed shape, resting on four small feet.
In very good condition, 25 cm long, signed in gold on the underside with “KG,” circa 1900
A truly beautiful antique piece—KG at its finest!
