Thanks to the exceptional quality of its marquetry andwoodwork, the Smal workshop was officially designated a Supplier tothe Emperor (Napoleon III) and the Imperial Family. The objects produced bythis workshop were intended for the high aristocracy and the upper middle classof the Second Empire.
