A refined and expressive work, painted with rich impasto and a very fresh blue background. It is beautifully highlighted by a stunning gilded Montparnasse-style frame.
The Grenoble-based artist Florent Chadé (1896–1985) is well known among enthusiasts of the Dauphiné School. His mountain landscapes of the areas around Grenoble and Chamonix regularly sell at auction houses. Flower still lifes, however, are much rarer.
