Charles-Philogène Tschaggeny, born on May 26, 1815, in Brussels and died on June 12, 1894, in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, was a Belgian painter and engraver.
Charles-Philogène Tschaggeny, born at Place Saint-Michel No. 594 in Brussels on May 26, 1815, was the son of Frédéric-Guillaume Tschaggeny, a merchant from Neuchâtel, Switzerland, and Anne Geneviève Celinie De Charvet, a native of Brussels and daughter of Charles Charvet de Blenod, tutor to Prince Charles Alexandre of Lorraine.
Charles-Philogène was the older brother of Edmond Tschaggeny (1818–1873), also a painter. Charles Tschaggeny married, in Brussels on July 11, 1849, following a wedding in Great Britain on the preceding June 15 at the Catholic Chapel of St. Mary in the district of Chelsea, County of Middlesex, Marie Thérèse Josèphe Bonduel (1824). They were the parents of the painter Frédéric Tschaggeny (1851–1921), a student of his father, as well as Sophie Léonie Tschaggeny (1854–1911) and Ernest Edmond Tschaggeny (1857–1921), a bank clerk.
