Murano Blown Glass Goblet By Franco Moretti, 1980s
Artist: Franco Moretti
This Murano glass vase, crafted by master glassmaker Franco Moretti, perfectly embodies the excellence and creativity of Italian artisanal craftsmanship. Both modern and rooted in centuries-old craftsmanship, this one-of-a-kind piece captivates the eye with its interplay of textures and striking color contrasts. A masterpiece of contrasts and materials The vase stands out for its rhythmic visual composition, structured into three distinct sections:

- The hammered (“battuto”) rim: The upper section features a rich, satiny brown hue. Its surface has been delicately cold-sculpted using the traditional battuto technique. This grinding process creates small facets reminiscent of hammered metal that beautifully catch the light.
- The abstract central body: The middle of the vase offers a complete break from the rest, featuring a very pure, opaque white background. On this glass canvas, the artist has let sinuous lines and asymmetrical swirls of dark brown flow freely. These fluid motifs evoke calligraphic movements or random mineral flows.
- The dark base: The object tapers downward to rest on a deep black pedestal with subtle nuances. This solid base anchors the overall silhouette and balances the lightness of the central motifs.
