One of the two is signed on the back: De Angelis A.

Elegant pair of majolica plates framed with wooden borders.

Dimensions:
Each plate: 32 cm in diameter
with frame: 40 cm

Both depict mythological scenes:

“The Abduction of Europa”: Zeus, having transformed himself into a white bull to seduce Europa, allows her to climb onto his back so he can abduct her and take her to Crete.
Three other women appear in the painted scene.


- “Forest Idyll”: a faun, playing the horn, attempts to seduce a nymph accompanied by another female figure, while two cherubs, lying at their feet, play with symbolic objects, including a mirror and several amphorae.
