A large, hand-carved alabaster centerpiece, crafted according to the centuries-old artistic tradition of Volterra, Tuscany—a city internationally renowned for itsin the field of alabaster craftsmanship
The generously proportioned bowl features an elegant scalloped rim shaped like a seashell, enhanced by finely carved zoomorphic handles inspired by dolphins, while the base is adorned with scrolls of, creating a refined composition strongly influenced by the decorative repertoire of the Italian Renaissance
The naturally veined alabaster, with its warm tones of ivory, honey, and gray, lends this piece remarkable depth and luminosity. Each piece is unique due to the natural character of the stone.
Its elegant sculptural qualities make it an exceptional decorative object, ideal as a centerpiece, which blends perfectly into both classic and contemporary interiors.
Although unsigned, the craftsmanship, style, and choice of material strongly suggest it was made in Volterra (Tuscany) during the mid-20th century (circa 1930–1950).
