Robert Picault Vallauris Polychromed Ceramic Teapot, Circa 1960

Striking ceramic teapot by French ceramicist Robert Picault, signed “RP” beneath the base. Dating to circa 1960, this piece reflects the distinctive and highly recognizable aesthetic associated with the Vallauris ceramic tradition.

The teapot features a richly coloured, hand-painted geometric decoration on a white ground, combining turquoise and cobalt blue with brown and green accents. The design incorporates repeated circular and radiating motifs, creating a dynamic and strongly graphic composition. The contrast of colours and the rhythm of the decoration give the piece a particularly lively appearance.

The teapot has a generous rounded body, a curved handle and a pronounced pouring spout, with a fitted removable lid topped by a rounded finial. The decoration extends across the body, lid, handle and spout, creating a harmonious overall design.
