Writing desk in solid oak veneered with rosewood, mounted on three bronze legs, with the base serving as a candlestick.
The top features two pen holders, a large inkwell, an inkstone, and a sand tray, set in recesses carved with a gouge.
This very pretty form is also found in the porcelain writing set delivered on December 18, 1770, by Simon-Philippe Poirier to Madame du Barry, and preserved at the Palace of Versailles [no. V.6203, see last photo].
