Yellow silk tape, marked in ink with Spanish inches (pulgada, approximately 2 cm)
Valuable handwritten note at the end of the ribbon:
Cadiz nov[emb]re 20, 1765 as / Fran[cis]co de Joseph de Arenas

It appears that Francisco de Arenas served as a currency inspector in Cádiz between 1737 and 1771; indeed, his hallmark appears on several pieces of silverware.
Given his endorsement on this ribbon, it is likely that he also served as inspector of weights and measures.
