Seal, Coat Of Arms, Ecclesiastical Heraldry, Auvergne Tower, Cardinal

This seal is ancient. It consists of a coat of arms surmounted by a royal crown, with a two-barred archiepiscopal cross at the top.
The crown is surmounted by a headdress that forms part of the external ornamentation, depicting a wide-brimmed hat, generally reserved for clergy.
The seal is accompanied by a cord, the number of knots on which (tassels, also called glands, or fiocchi) reflects the clergyman’s rank.

Ecclesiastical heraldry. Patriarchs, archbishops, and bishops may no longer use the insignia of family noble titles or secular dignities, but they were once permitted to use the external ornaments corresponding to any noble titles attached to their see or abbey. This practice was abolished in 1951 during the pontificate of Pius XII.

Regarding the condition, note two chips in the wood.
