Athenienne-style Pedestal Table In Aventurine Lacquer And Gilded Bronze, Based On A Design By Weisweiler, Circa 1880

Small Athenian pedestal table made of lacquered wood (aventurine lacquer) and bronze gilded with fine gold in both matte and glossy finishes. Four columns with gilded bronze bands, wrapped in acanthus leaves of gilded bronze, rest on four chiseled and gilded bronze legs shaped like a ram’s or deer’s hooves. The tabletop is made of semi-precious stone (onyx) set within a gilded bronze frame. Crafted in the Louis XVI style in the Weisweiler tradition, it was made in the 1880s by a Parisian luxury manufacturer such as Dasson or Sormani. The pedestal table is unsigned.


A beautiful, refined piece, ideal as a coffee table or for displaying a work of art (vase, statue, lamp, girandole).

In very good condition; the lacquer and fine-gold-gilded bronze have been cleaned by our cabinetmaker. Cracks in the marble.
