Louis XVI Commode With Breakfront, 18th Century, Walnut
Breakfront commode dating from the late 18th century, transitional period between Louis XV and Louis XVI styles.
The front is veneered in walnut and features three drawers. These are decorated with marquetry depicting a large pattern of foliage and scrolls, matched across all drawers. A rosewood fillet outlines the decoration. At the centre, the lock is surrounded by a vegetal rosette, with no family coat of arms.
The commode is topped with a grey-blue Turkish marble slab veined with white. It is adorned with gilt bronze mounts.
