Neoclassical Chandelier, Late 18th Century, With A Gold-painted Stem.

Neoclassical chandelier, late 18th century

Elegant neoclassical chandelier with six arms, crafted from gilded bronze and clear hand-painted and hand-gilded blown glass, richly adorned with pendants, prisms, and garlands of cut crystal beads.

The slender central glass stem is exquisitely decorated with laurel wreaths, garlands of foliage, and gilded bows and spiral bands—ornaments characteristic of the sober and classical decorative vocabulary of Neoclassicism. The glass bowl and crown are also enhanced with delicate gilded decoration, perfectly harmonizing with the overall design.

The elegantly curved arms are designed to hold six real candles, in keeping with the original design. The cut crystal prisms and pendants diffuse a brilliant light and create a remarkable play of reflections, while a large faceted pendant completes the composition as a finishing touch.

A piece of great finesse and remarkable balance, combining the elegance of late 18th-century neoclassical style with the refinement of painted and gilded glass and the richness of high-quality cut crystal. A rare decorative piece of great aesthetic quality.
