The Art Deco movement and Cubism of the 1930s were based on extremely precise geometric lines. This modernist style provided an excellent technical exercise for apprentice casters, engravers, and copper smiths.
- As part of an exam, a workshop competition, or a master’s project to become a journeyman, the student would create a piece to demonstrate their technical skill. These study pieces were not intended for sale and remained anonymous.
