The hilt is made of gilded brass with three branches, hallmarked with "Versailles," an italic "B" within an oval, and a "V" within an oval.
The wooden hilt is sheathed in black leather with silver-plated copper filigree.
The curved, hollow-edged blade—specific to the Imperial Guard’s mounted chasseurs—is hallmarked with a “K” surmounted by a small star, a “B” within a laurel wreath, and an “L.”
The blade shows signs of wear from age.
The back of the blade is engraved: Manufacture Imple de Klingenthal, July 1811.
The scabbard is made of iron with two wide 1807-style brass loop fittings, marked with the number 11; the markings are dented, but the two leather loops are intact.
