Pair Of Provençal Armchairs In Lacquered Beech – 18th Century

A rare and charming pair of Provençal armchairs made of turned beech wood, preserved in remarkable original condition. This 18th-century model is distinguished by the elegance of its lines and by a particularly uncommon construction detail: the upper crossbar of the backrests is perforated to hold the backrest cushion in place, a technical refinement that is rarely preserved.

The armchairs rest on turned legs joined by a turned crossbar with a latticework design. The curved armrests are supported by spindle-shaped brackets that terminate in an elegant “pipe-shaped” form, characteristic of high-quality pieces from this period.

The straw-tufted seats are original and in excellent condition. The cushions, crafted from an authentic 18th-century quilted blanket featuring delicate floral motifs, perfectly highlight the spirit of these chairs while respecting their historical character.
