Louis XV-style Living Room Chandelier In Bronze And Crystal, Early 20th Century
An elegant and imposing Louis XV-style cage chandelier with eight light arms, featuring a rich gilded bronze and brass frame entirely adorned with cut crystal.
The composition is organized around a tall central shaft formed of several molded and cut crystal elements, assembled in a baluster design. The eight light arms, harmoniously arranged around the frame, feature a dynamic design characteristic of the Rocaille style. They are fitted with crystal cups with scalloped rims and are equipped with socket covers designed to resemble candles.
The chandelier is particularly remarkable for the abundance and variety of its ornamentation: long garlands of faceted beads, rosettes, dagger-shaped pendants, prismatic pendants, crystal plaques, and crystal balls. The upper section, also adorned with cascades and garlands, is crowned by an elegant gilded metal canopy decorated with blooming leaves.
The light, refracted by the crystal’s numerous facets, produces a particularly brilliant glow and lends the piece a spectacular decorative presence. This chandelier would naturally find its place in a grand entryway, a reception room, a dining room, or a home of character.
A French piece from the early 20th century, in the style of the grand Parisian Louis XV-style chandeliers.
The shape and quality of the crystals suggest a Baccarat piece, though this cannot be confirmed.
