Jean Paul Gourdon, "wild Boar Terrine," Large Glazed Terracotta

“Wild Boar Terrine.” A rare, large brown-glazed earthenware piece featuring a trompe l’oeil depiction of a wild boar presented on a table centerpiece in the 18th-century style, richly decorated with oak leaves and acorns, signed J.P. Gourdon. It is glazed white on the inside with a similar acorn motif.

Jean-Paul Gourdon has been a ceramist for over 40 years. He is from Lot-et-Garonne. In 2007, the excellence of his work in this field was recognized. He was awarded the title of “Meilleur Ouvrier de France.” His works are rooted in tradition, with an oriental touch in some pieces, including hyperrealistic animals. Throughout Europe, Jean-Paul Gourdon has garnered attention, particularly from chefs such as Alain Ducasse and Gérard, who, impressed by the realism of his creations, commissioned him to create terrines and giant vegetables for their restaurants.
