This engraving is approximately 200 years old. It is in good condition considering its age.
Our restorer has carefully cleaned it to remove the signs of aging. The engraving had several tears in the white margins; some extended slightly into the composition, while others were directly within the image. These tears have been carefully restored. These restorations are subtle, and once the engraving is mounted on a mat and framed, they will be virtually imperceptible.
To strengthen the paper, which had become fragile over time, and to ensure its long-term preservation, the print was backed with a thin sheet of Japanese paper using traditional restoration techniques.
We invite you to examine the photographs closely, as they are an integral part of the description of the condition of this engraving.
