Born in Spain (Barcelona) in 1917, Jorge Soteras joins the republic army from 1936 to 1939 when he quits and moves to France. In 1959 he is part of the Catalan group of painters Art Nostre alongside with Clavé, Grau Sala, Salès and others. He was also known as an illustrator: 1947 "Le Romancero Gitano" by Federico Garcia Lorca, in 1952 L'Inferno de Dante, in 1953, "Les chants de Maldoror" by Lautréamont.
