Rare Sarreguemines earthenware dinner service, "Papillon" model, late 19th century, 80 pieces.
An iconic design from the Sarreguemines earthenware factory, the Papillon model was produced during its heyday around 1875.
Made of earthenware with a polychrome decoration featuring butterflies and insects perched on flower stems, with pink streaks on their wings.
Various butterfly and flower designs (violet, clematis, harvest chrysanthemums, bellflower, bindweed, oats, speedwell).
The set consists of:
24 dinner plates (diameter: 24 cm), 3 different designs.
12 appetizer plates (diameter: 21.5 cm), 3 different designs.
12 dessert plates (diameter: 20.5 cm), 3 different designs.
12 soup plates (diameter: 24 cm), 3 different designs.
1 round serving platter (diameter: 32 cm)
1 round serving platter (diameter: 28.5 cm)
3 stacked plates (diameter: 22 cm)
2 medium fruit bowls (diameter: 25.5 cm)
1 large fruit bowl (diameter: 28.5 cm).
1 salad bowl (diameter: 28 cm)
4 serving dishes (26.5 cm by 15 cm)
1 soup tureen (diameter: 22 cm) with its lid.
2 covered vegetable bowls (diameter: 29.5 cm)
1 rectangular dish (42 cm by 33 cm)
1 rectangular dish (36.5 cm by 28.5 cm)
1 sauceboat on a foot (27 cm by 14 cm)
1 mustard pot (height: 10 cm).
Very good condition.
