Mantel clock, France, late 18th century, Louis XVI period

Portico-style frame in black and white marble with posts decorated with gilded bronze caryatids.

White enamel dial signed “Gerard A. Paris,” surmounted by a gilded bronze eagle flanked by two patinated bronze cherubs holding garlands.

Rectangular base embellished with gilt-bronze friezes depicting scenes in bas-relief.

Movement with a suspended pendulum.
