Désiré Chirac, "the Two Sisters," Large Oil On Canvas, Circa 1850

A large, framed oil-on-canvas painting depicting two sisters in their pretty lace and silk dresses; the older sister has one arm draped around the younger sister’s neck, who is holding a basket of flowers they have just picked in the park surrounding them; a statue of a reclining lion can be seen in the background.
Some restoration, slight flaking; wooden frame with gilded stucco, with some missing sections
Overall dimensions 141 x 113 cm, stretcher 116 x 89 cm
Achille Désiré CHIRAC was an artist active between c. 1831 and c. 1859. His works have appeared in public auctions on 10 occasions, primarily in the Drawing and Watercolor category.
