Two beautiful, large sculptures carved from natural wood depicting angels, most likely intended as a pair for an altar, kneeling, dressed in togas held in place by a strap; one, with hands clasped, likely held a candle, while the other has hands in prayer (formerly lacquered and/or gilded; damage, missing parts—notably the wings—pitting, and areas of fragility).
Late 17th century, Louis XIV period.
