A remarkable Regency-period crucifix, set in a spectacular, richly carved and gilded wooden frame.Featuring a particularly refined composition, the frame is enlivened by an abundant decoration of scrollwork, foliage, and carved ornaments, crowned by two cherubs in high relief that frame the upper part of the composition. The richness of the decoration and the quality of the craftsmanship reflect the taste for ceremonial religious works that adorned prestigious residences and interiors in the early 18th century.In the center, a finely carved figure of Christ, crafted from a fine material and mounted on a solid wooden cross, stands out against an elegant velvet background.
