Regency-era Coffee Table
The quality of the sheep bone base, also known as the “S-shape,” is characteristic of the Regency period.
It featuresmolding on the lower section and a volute, all with an extraordinary curve.
The base appears to be juxtaposed.
The scalloped band on the front is bold and pronounced.
The entire is also original.
This same curvature is evident in the meticulous craftsmanship.
The X-shaped crossbar is stepped with flat molding, also typical of the period.
The leg is extraordinary!
The central spindle further highlights the finesse of the work.
Unfortunately, this spindle, as well as the top—also made of walnut—are not period pieces.
Despite this, is well-balanced and cohesive.
This model remains rare.
Given its condition, it deserves a home that suits it.
