Six Puiforcat Sterling Silver Forks, Armorial, France, C. 1890

Set of six sterling silver (950/1000) forks made by the prestigious Parisian house of Puiforcat, circa 1890.

Each fork bears the French Minerva hallmark (950/1000 standard) together with the maker’s mark E/P, identifying the house of Puiforcat. Founded in Paris in 1820, Puiforcat is regarded as one of France’s most prestigious silversmiths. Since 1993, the company has been part of the Hermès Group.

The handles display an elegant Louis XVI Revival decoration with finely chased scrolling foliage.

Each fork is engraved with the armorial bearings of a noble family: a shield semé of crosses, crossed by a bend charged with three stars, surmounted by a stag’s head crest and accompanied by a Latin motto.

Total weight: approximately 305 grams.

Very good overall condition, with a light age-related patina. A refined set combining the excellence of French silver craftsmanship with distinguished heraldic provenance.
