Reliquary “De Spina D.N. ” – Relic of the Holy Crown of Thorns – 18th century

Metal reliquary containing a relic identified by the handwritten inscription “De Spina D.N.,” an abbreviation of De Spina Domini Nostri (“from the Thorn of Our Lord”), designating a relic of Christ’s Holy Crown of Thorns.

The relic is displayed in a traditional setting against a background of polychrome silks, enhanced by hand-painted decoration and protected by a glass pane. The reverse side retains its intact red episcopal wax seal with its silk threads, guaranteeing that the reliquary has never been opened since its ecclesiastical authentication.

Condition:

Very good condition. Complete reliquary with original glass pane, relic in place, and intact wax seal. Signs of wear consistent with its age

In accordance with canon law (can. 1190 §1), this sale pertains solely to the reliquary as an object of sacred art. The relics it contains are not part of the transaction but are included as a courtesy due to their historical and cultural value.
