First Half Of The 19th Century Painting With A Glimmer Of Florence

Exceptional and refined oil painting on canvas, housed in a carved wooden frame gilded with pure gold leaf. The painting depicts a view of Florence, including the Ghetto with the Loggia del Pesce, before its demolition during Florence's period as capital of Italy, between 1865 and 1871. The area was demolished, and the current Piazza della Repubblica-Via Strozzi was built. Among the architecture, various figures are depicted, engaged in conversation, strolling, a man in a carriage, and a gendarme. The work is attributed to the Florentine painter Giovanni Signorini, father of the more famous Telemaco Signorini. It is a painting of great taste and refinement, capable of lending a touch of class and history to any setting. Florentine manufacture, first half of the 19th century.
