Port Of Cologne 1905
This work depicts the port of Cologne in the early 20th century, during a period of intense commercial activity on the Rhine. In the foreground, a large three-masted sailing ship occupies the right side of the composition, moored among steamships and tugboats. In the background, one can make out the bustling harbor, the docks, industrial buildings, and the misty silhouette of the city beneath a clear, slightly cloudy sky. The soft, diffused light suggests a late-afternoon atmosphere.
Painting dated 1905 in the lower right corner and signed (signature needs to be deciphered)
Note: there are two small tears on the upper part of the canvas. (see photo)
