An important pair of large 19th-century cassolettes in the Neoclassical style, crafted from bronze with a brown patina and richly decorated with chiseled and gilded bronze details.
The urns rest on a pedestal with a fluted base. They feature refined ornamentation consisting of finely chiseled palmettes, shells, and acanthus leaves. The handles are shaped like magnificent lion heads connected to foliage scrolls, while the lids are crowned with a pomegranate-shaped finial, a highly prized symbolic motif in the neoclassical decorative repertoire. The interior of the urns is lined with gilded brass receptacles.
