Large gilded bronze candlestick or torch, late Louis XVI period or early Empire period.

Our candlestick is identical to the model attributed to Feuchère and on display at the Fontainebleau Palace (placed in the Emperor’s topographical cabinet in 1805) and listed in Jean-Pierre Samoyault’s book *Pendules et bronzes d’ameublement entrés sous le premier Empire*, number 143.

This model is distinguished by its great simplicity as well as its excellentworkmanship. Base with acanthus leaves, a row of pearls, fluted shaft in a quiver shape, and inverted acanthus leaves.

It consists of 5 separate pieces, made entirely of bronze gilded with mercury in both matte and glossy finishes (bronze only; no brass parts).

A beautiful collector’s item, ideal for an Empire or Louis XVI-style interior. The candlestick can be easily converted into a lamp with an electrification kit.

Very good condition; the original gilding is slightly faded but still clearly visible.

Height: 26.5 cm
Diameter: 13 cm
