Alabaster Ganesh, Hindu God Of Prosperity - India, Early 20th* Century
An elegant alabaster sculpture depicting
Ganesh, one of the most revered deities in the Hindu pantheon. The son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesh is traditionally regarded as the god of wisdom, prosperity, good fortune, and success. He is also the remover of obstacles and the protector of new beginnings.
This sculpture, created in India in the early 20th century, captivates with the finesse of its carving and the softness of its alabaster, whose antique patina lends it an authentic charm. Despite the ravages of time, it retains a remarkable presence and genuine expressive power.
Please note: the sculpture is missing one arm, and there is an earlier restoration on one of the left hands, both visible in the photographs.
These interventions, which bear witness to its history, in no way detract from the decorative quality or the appeal of this piece.
A beautiful collector’s sculpture, ideal for a cabinet of curiosities, an Asian-inspired interior, or a collection dedicated to the arts of India.
