Maurice Frécourt (1890–1961), Bronze Paper Cutter Featuring A Heron, Circa 1920
Artist: Maurice Frécourt (1890-1961)
Bronze paper cutter with a bronze-brown patina depicting a heron with its wings spread above it.
Work by Maurice Frécourt (1890–1961), a student of Valton and Boucher, who specialized in animal sculpture. His youth and enthusiasm enabled him to make a name for himself in the field of bronze art during the Belle Époque. But it wasbeginning with the 1920 Salon that he gained renown and prestige, skillfully translating the solemn requirements of the Art Deco style into his vision of the animal world. He was interested in all animals, whether domestic or wild; they served as his models throughout his career. His variations on the elephant, the panther, and the monkey have become classics of stylized animal representation.
Good overall condition.
Dated circa 1920.
Shipping: 14 euros within France, 25 euros within the EU, and 80 euros to the rest of the world.
