A French painter born in Montmartre in 1854; his father, Charles Laloue, was a theater set painter.
He trained under Léon Germain Pelouse, a painter of the Barbizon School.
Recruited at a very young age by the French Railway Company to map out the railway routes from Paris to the provinces, he painted numerous landscapes and villages during these assignments. The Parisian neighborhoods, whose architecture he depicted with respect, established him as a master of the genre; his numerous gouaches are highly sought after today.
