17th-century Aubusson Tapestry

17th-century Aubusson wool tapestry.
Featuring figures set against a verdant landscape, with a small castle and a village in the background.
The richly dressed main figure must originally have had his lady love at his right side!At his feet is a flower bed; one can even make out a bird perched on some branches.
The entire scene is framed by a wide border decorated with falling fruit surmounted by heads, coats of arms, and vases.
As is often the case, our tapestry was likely reduced in size—either because it was too large or too damaged...
Despite the wear and tear, the colors are still vibrant, and the piece remains very decorative.
17th-century Aubusson, France.
