Oboes made by Théodore Robert are rare. Excellent craftsmanship, beautiful precious wood, and a fine finish. Each of the instrument’s three parts is branded “Th Robert Marseille.” The case is signed on the inside in gold lettering: “Fabrique Instrument de Musique. Théodore Robert. 13 Rue de l’Arbre, Marseille,” which would correspond to a date of manufacture around 1885–95. In good condition, complete, with one of the three parts cracked. Original cork joint, still functional. Case: 410x85x50mm. Assembled oboe: 68cm.
