Artist: Sofu Kawase

Red lacquered wooden box decorated with geometric floral designs in gold and silver makie lacquer, featuring mother-of-pearl inlays and gold and metal flakes.

Artist: Takase Sofu (1898–1977).
This lacquer color is typical of the “sabie urushi” lacquer technique from the Takaoka region, where the artist was born.

Japan, Shōwa era, 20.5 × 15 × 11 cm.
Comes with its original box signed by the artist.
